skinnyCorp and related trash

March 08, 2007
For the past few weeks I've been quite interested in web usability. Working everyday on applications made me understand the power of simple software: less code, less features, more fun! Small companies out there are doing a great job in making this a priority for their future developments, it really works and it's a bombardment of fresh ideas ready to be laid out for you in a great web tWO.fucking0 (Web 2.0) environment, how fun. Now this is where it gets stupid and trashy, usability is being brought down to a level of idiotic craziness. They really don't know what to do anymore, they try and keep it "different", and after a little while you can actually see them throwing up on each others ideas like a bunch of kindergarten kids fighting over a lollipop.

The cool thing about this is that the actual software is old and everybody uses it, they make it shiner and better looking for blind people. Simpleness is the essence of usability but this crazy trash behavior is going way beyond the user connectivity with the actual page, making him wonder between shaped links, moving bubbles and AJAX dizzy effects.

Also what the fuck is the point of this: Yay Hooray. It looks like a forum but it's a 'closed' community, and 80% of the shit in there is totally nonsense. It can either be a forum for people that actually know each other in real life, that's fine I guess, or it's basically just a bunch of random people discussing about random stuff, or maybe it's only for cool people (in which case I'm not allowed to join).
